According to a statement issued by the association RecyPac – Kreislauf Plastik-Verpackungen und Getränkekartons, whose mission is to implement a circular economy for plastic packaging and drinks cartons, the RecyBag is being launched in the canton of Fribourg. The recycling bag, available in 17, 35 and 60-liter sizes, will in future help to simplify the recycling of plastic packaging and drinks cartons for consumers across the canton.
To begin with, existing Migros collection points in Avry-sur-Matran, Bulle, Düdingen, Granges-Paccot, Marly, Murten and Wünnewil-Flamatt will be switched over to the new system. Coop is also participating in the expansion: Following on from branches in Murten and Châtel-St-Denis, locations in Düdingen and Marly are now being added, with Granges-Paccot to follow in the near future. The supermarket chains Aldi, Denner, Lidl, Spar and Volg have also announced that they will gradually integrate the RecyBag into the product range of their stores located throughout the Swiss canton of Fribourg.
In parallel with the expansion of regional collection points, RecyPac is relocating its sorting facility closer to home. This will move from Lustenau in Austria to Grandson in the canton of Vaud, with the aim of shortening transport routes and promoting cooperation with local businesses.
The RecyBag is a nationwide separate collection system devised by the industry organization RecyPac for the recycling of plastic packaging and drinks cartons. The aim is to establish a high-quality circular economy for plastic packaging and beverage cartons. According to the Federal Office for the Environment, a nationwide system could generate annual climate benefits of 400,000 to 740,000 tons of CO2 equivalent, according to the statement. ce/ja
